Kissinger speaking (speech mixed with commentary)
K: We believe that the objective was to help the people concerned and therefore we stress..... the result of the confrontations with the Soviet Union has been attempts to demonstrate our impotence.
Do we really know what we are doing in countries like Argentina and elsewhere when one day we cut off hundreds of millions of dollars of loans? I find it inexplicable for example that we are approving oil drilling equipment for the Soviet Union after the Shcharansky case but are cutting of the sale of agricultural machinery to Argentina.
Commentary: Kissinger said that during the Nixon administration that the emigration of Soviet Jews rose from 400 to 40,00??? calls quiet diplomacy. K: Mcgovern's proposals to send in UN troops to ??? Cambodian regime which is reputed to have murdered hundreds of thousands of its citizens overlooks Vietnam's intention. .. The government of Hanoi has been determined to establish its prominence in all of Indo-China... those who had something to do with the debacle then ensued should now just be silent about it.'
Commentary: Kissinger also had very few kindswords for UN ambassador Andrew Young K:....I'm not saying he should be removed but be disciplined.'
Commentary: Kissinger was asked about former President Richard Nixon's reemergence into public life and repled that Nixon should be best suited for an elder statesman's role.
K: 'I would think that perhaps.... he made a ??? and patriotic decision.'
