Background: A new GBP 60,000 ($150,000 U.S. Dollars) hostel for 250 students at the Avetonou Research Centre, built jointly by West Germany and Togo was officially handed over on Saturday (July 20).
It will help solve the urgent student housing problem in Togo.
In accepting the building, Togo's Director of the Office of the Minister of Rural Economy M. Nahm-Tchougli said the problems were to acute they could prove a handicap to education.
West Germany was represented by first secretary Herr Bodo Karkow.
The hostel was built in six months, has eight 32-bed dormitories and separate accommodation for teachers, a kitchen and dining rooms.
