Background: Throughout the Muslim world, the Faithful have been celebrating Eid el-Kabir, the major festival of the Muslim year.
The "festival of sacrifice" commemorates Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac, and in his message to the people of Nigeria, General Yakubu Gowon said it was the realisation of the lesson of sacrifice that had enabled the country to move away rapidly from suspicion fear and doubt towards a virile, self-reliant and prosperous Nigeria.
This film, shot in predominantly Muslim Northern Nigeria, shows the festival procession in Katsina, in the extreme north, of the country, close to the Niger border.
