Thousands of pilgrims flocked into Mecca -- the birthplace of Mohammed -- to walk around the Ka'ba, the sacred shrine of Islam in the courtyard of the Great Mosque. Many of those arriving for the pilgrimage season were from Africa, including the Presidents of Somalia and Upper Volta.

In his address, King faisal told Muslims they were experiencing aggression and attempts to disunite and divide them. He said Zionist enemies aimed to weaken the Muslims and smash their dignity and honour.

SYNOPSIS: Thousands of Muslims flocked into Mecca on Sunday for their pilgrimage to the Ka'ba, the sacred shrine of Islam. Many of those arriving for the pilgrimage season were from Africa -- they included the Presidents of Somalia and Upper Volta. Mecca is the birth place of Mohammed, the most sacred city of Islam, and the capital of the Saudi Arabian province of Hejaz.

Pilgrims touched and kissed the Ka'ba shrine, in the courtyard of the Great Mosque, Many of those present had arrived in Mecca on aircraft or by motor transport. King Faisal of Saudi Arabia greeted the pilgrims with an outside broadcast from Mecca.....

In his speech, King Faisal told Muslims they were experiencing aggressions and attempts to disunite and divide them. He said Zionist enemies aimed to weaken the Muslims and smash their dignity and honour. He said he hoped that God would forsake the Zionists and render the Muslims triumphant over their enemies, everywhere and always.

King Faisal said there were voices in the world alleging that the Jews had the right to exist in the Holy lands, in Jerusalem. But he said it was common knowledge that the Jews had no relationship with Jerusalem, nor did they have any holy places there. He said the Jews had no right to any authority or administration in Jerusalem.

King faisal extended his thanks to Muslims in Asia and Africa for their solidarity with the Arabs in removing the aggressions facing them.
