    Mike Hailwood of England beat arch-rival Giacomo Agostini of Italy in the Daily Mail "Race of the Year" motor-cycle event at Mallory Park, Leicester today (Sunday). Hailwood, who has won this race four times previously, beat the Italian by 25 seconds over the 30 lap race.

    Right from the start Hailwood raced to the front on his six-cylinder Honda 350 and built up a steadily increasing lead. A big crowd of 50-thousand had expected Agostini the reigning world champion 350cc and 500cc rider, to put up more of a challenge. Yamaha rider Bill Ivy, was lying second until he fell on his machine on the back straight.

    Barry Randle of England, riding a Norton, finished third. Hailwood had an average speed of 82.04 miles per hour (about. 122 k.p.h.) and he recorded the fastest lap of 88 miles per hour (about.141.5 k.p.h.)
