The Jordanian delegation to the Arab Summit meeting flew into Tripoli on Sunday (August 2). The three-man delegation, led by Mr. Anton Atallah, the Foreign Minister, was greeted at the airport by Lt. Col. Abu Bakr Jaber of the Libyan Revolutionary Command Council and the Commanders of the three Armed Forces.
On his arrival Mr. Atallah said he hoped the conference of Foreign and Defence Ministers would endorse acceptance of the Rogers Peace Plan by the U.A.R. and Jordan. Accompanying Mr. Atallah are the Jordanian Defence Minister and the Army Chief of Staff.
The start of the summit meeting was, however, delayed for several days and opened only today (Wednesday, August 5). Libya, U.A.R., Jordan, Syria and Sudan are attending the conference; but Iraq and Algeria are boycotting it.
Colonel Muammer Al Gaddafi, Chairman of the Libyan Revolutionary Command Council, opened the conference this morning. It is not known how long the talks will go on but conference sources expected them to end tomorrow (Thursday, 6th August).
