    TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN, THE MALAYSIAN PRIME MINISTER, HAS BEEN TOURING THE FEDERATION'S TWO BORNEO STATES TO EXPLAIN SINGAPORE'S WITHDRAWAL EARLIER THIS MONTH. ON SUNDAY, HE FLEW TO SIBU, IN SARAWAK, WHERE HE SPOKE TO MALAYAN TROOPS.

    STRICT SECURITY PRECAUTIONS WERE ENFORCED IN SIBU, THE SCENE OF VIOLENT ANTI-MALAYSIA RIOTING TWO YEARS AGO DURING THE VISIT OF A UNITED NATIONS FACT-FINDING MISSION.

    THE TUNKU TOLD MALAY TROOPS STATIONED IN SIBU THAT HE DEEPLY APPRECIATED THEIR SERVICES AND HARDSHIPS IN DEFENDING MALAYSIA AGAINST THE INDONESIA CONFRONTATION.

    EARLIER, HE HAD VISITED SABAH - THE OTHER BORNEO MEMBER OF THE FEDERATION - WHERE DISQUIET HAS BEEN REPORTED OVER SINGAPORE'S WITHDRAWAL. REPORTS SPEAK OF TALK FOR A LOOSER LINK WITH THE FEDERATION OR EVEN WITHDRAWAL ALTOGETHER. BUT THE TUNKU HAS SAID: "THERE WILL DEFINITELY BE NO CHARGE IN THE PRESENT POSITION OF SABAH WITHIN MALAYSIA."
