Background: The University of Lagos is the venue this week for a meeting of the Executive board of the association of African Universities. The three-day meeting is being attended by representatives form eight member countries, as well as observers from overseas.
The meeting, which is the sixth in the series of Executive Board Meetings, is aimed at considering matters concerning the development of higher education in Africa with special emphasis on inter-university co-operation.
Dr. M. El Fasi, the Moroccan Minister of Culture, the President of the Board and Executive Vice-President Dr. El Nazeer Dafaalia of the University of Khartoum, are among those present at the meeting.
Subjects on the agenda include unrest among students. Visits to the Yakubu Gowon Library and the college of Medicine have also been arranged.
