    HUNDREDS OF DELEGATES FROM ALL OVER THE CONGO BRAZZAVILLE AND A NUMBER OF FOREIGN COUNTRIES HAVE ASSEMBLED IN BRAZZAVILLE FOR THE THIRD CONGRESS OF CONGOLESE STUDENTS. OVERSEAS DELEGATES HAVE COME FROM FRANCE, THE SOVIET UNION, MALI AND GUINEA. THE CONGRESS WHICH WAS OPENED ON FRIDAY, WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST.

    THE FIRST SPEAKER AT THE OPENING SESSION WAS THE OUTGOING PRESIDENT OF THE CONGOLESE PUPILS AND STUDENTS UNION, M. AUGE M'POUNGUI. HE TOLD DELEGATES THAT DESPITE ADVANCES IN THE COUNTRY'S EDUCATION SYSTEM. THERE WAS A TENDENCY AMONG GRADUATES OF HIGHER EDUCATION TO REFUSE TO ASSIMILATE WITH THE LESS EDUCATED POPULATION. MANY STUDENTS WANTED TO STEP INTO TOP MANAGERIAL POSTS STRAIGHT AWAY WITHOUT INITIAL BASIC FOUNDATION WORK. THE CONGOLESE MINISTER FOR THE INTERIOR, M. ANDRE HOUBESSA, HAD A WORD OF CONGRATULATION FOR ALL CONGOLESE STUDENTS AND WORLD STUDENTS IN GENERAL. THE MINISTER, WHO IS ALSO PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY'S REVOLUTIONARY YOUTH MOVEMENT, SAID THAT KOREAN STUDENTS HAD BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OVERTHROW OF THE GOVERNMENT OF PRESIDENT SYNGMAN RHEE. HE ALSO PRAISED THE STUDENTS OF JAPAN, ALGERIA AND CUBA.
