  • Description

THE UNITED NATIONS MISSION TO SOUTH ARABIA SUDDENLY LEFT ADEN THIS MORNING (FRIDAY). THEY FLEW INTO ROME WHERE THEY COMPLAINED BITTERLY OF LACK OF COOPERATION FROM THE BRITISH AUTHORITIES.

AFTER SPENDING ONLY FIVE DAYS ON A MISSION SCHEDULED TO LAST THREE WEEKS, THE THREE MEN CAUGHT THE PLANE TO ROME. THEY MADE NO SECRET OF THEIR FRUSTRATION.

ON ARRIVAL AT ROME AIRPORT THE LEADER OF THE MISSION, SENOR MANUEL PEREZ GUERRERO OF VENEZUELA, HAD THIS TO SAY TO REPORTERS:
THE UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY GENERAL U THANT, WAS ALSO ON A VISIT TO ITALY, AND THE SECRETARY-GENERAL MET THE THREE MEN BRIEFLY IN AN AIRPORT LOUNGE.

BRITAIN'S FOREIGN MINISTER, MR. GEORGE BROWN, HAS INVITED THE MISSION TO LONDON, BUT TOMORROW THE MISSION FLIES TO GENEVA.

LATE THIS EVENING U THANT HAD ANOTHER MEETING WITH THE MISSION, BUT AFTERWARDS TOLD REPORTERS THAT THERE HAD BEEN AN EXCHANGE OF VIEWS AND DIDN'T SAY IF THE MISSION WOULD ACCEPT THE INVITATION TO LONDON.
