Background: The Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mahmoud Fawzy, and his new cabinet were sworn in at the Qubba Palace in Cairo on Wednesday (November 18). They promised Egyptians a "society of sufficiency and justice" -- and no let-up in the battle with Israel.
The 70-year old Dr. Fawzy led his 32-man cabinet as it took oath of office before President Anwar Sadat. Dr. Fawzy, appointed Prime Minster a month ago following the death of Prescient Nasser, issued a statement saying the battle with Israel would remain one priority. He has recognised several key miniseries with the aim of boosting Egypt's war-style economy and raising living standards.
The ministers of War, Foreign Affairs and the Interior remain unchanged.
