    Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin left the Norwegian capital of Oslo on Monday (11 December) with his Nobel Prize for more talks with the United States on the stalled peace talks between Israeli and Egypt. The US Secretary of State, Mr. Cyrus Vance, arrived in Cairo on Sunday (10 December) and after talks with President Sadat will go on to Israel.

    SYNOPSIS: The Akershus, the old fortress in the centre of Oslo was the venue for the Nobel Prize ceremony.

    It was the initial accords reached between Israel and Egypt last September that led to the Nobel Peace Prize awards to President Sadat and Prime Minister Begin. King Olaf of Norway attended the prize giving.

    Mr. Begin and Mr. Sayed Marei representing President Sadat, both pledged their efforts towards peace in the Middle East. Both leaders warmly praised President Carter of the United States for calling the peace talks which were held at Camp David, Maryland. mr. Begin said the Camp David accords could serve as the first step towards a comprehensive peace in the region. Speaking for President Sadat, Mr. Marei said:
