  • Description

After a mass meeting at Trafalgar Square, London, Feb 18, supporter of an anti-nuclear protest demonstration, organised by the "Committee of 100", marched down Whitehall to the Ministry of Defense.

Led by members of the Committee, including Lord Russell and the Reverend Michael Scott, the demonstrators staged a sit-down protest outside the Ministry building. After an abortive earlier attempt, Lord Russell was permitted to hand in a declaration denouncing nuclear weapons in general and the Polaris base agreement in particular. The anti-nuclear campaigners marched away three hours later.
