Background: Double misfortune struck veteran British walker Barbara Moore on the first day of her marathon walk across the USA, April 13th. A traffic 'cop' threatened her with a ticket for 'jay-walking' - an in true American style, she was 'conned' (translation - she was the victim of a con-fidence trickster) A bogus newspaper reporter offered to transport her 13 pairs of walking shoes, numerous cans of fruit and vegetable juice - he loaded a car and hasn't been seen since.

Despite all this Barbara Moore trudges determinedly on - with 3,000 odd miles of America before her.

Sustained by a vegetarian diet. Barbara Moore has already walked the length of the British Isles. She claims she will beat the estimated time of two British Servicemen who are walking in front of her.

She also claims she will live to be 200 yrs old.
