Background: In April, 1970, Israeli bombers destroyed the old school at Bahr El Bakr in the United Arab Republic. The Egyptians said that 30 children were killed outright and 16 more died later of wounds, inflicted during the raid.
Within days of that attack a new school began to rise amongst the ruins of the destroyed building. Now, a year later that new school has been officially opened.
Several important Egyptian Government Ministers were present at the opening together with many other dignitaries of public life. The children who died a year ago were remembered at the occasion.
