Mr. Misteri Noor Husain has been sending letters to the British Royal Family for 40?
Mr. Misteri Noor Husain has been sending letters to the British Royal Family for 40 years. The climax of his devotion camp with the completion of two hand-carved beds -- one for the Queen, the other for Princess Anne.
Mr. Husain, who's 77, travelled from his home in Dubai to London to present the beds to the Royal Family. But his gesture turned into an anti-climax -- the beds were held up in Karachi, Pakistan, because of an airline mistake, he was robbed of his life savings in Turkey, and British immigration officials deported him.
Before his departure for home on Friday (21 Dec.), Mr. Husain was taken to see Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. His hopes of meeting the Queen were dashed -- the Royal Family left the Palace on Thursday (20 December) to spend Christmas at Windsor Castle.
Mr. Husain's fare home was paid by the Chairman of the Kent Committee for Immigrant Welfare, Mr. Michael Montague.
