    THIS IS THE AREA OF THE FORMER GHETTO IN LUBLIN, THE PLACE WHERE 45.000 JEWS WERE MURDERED BY THE NAZIS DURING THE LAST WAR.

    THE MONUMENT TO VICTIMS OF NZISM, BUILT FROM FUNDS DONATED BY THE COMMUNITY, WAS UNVEILED ON THE TWENTY-FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIQUIDATION OF LUBLIN GHETTO. THE MONUMENT, HEWN BY TWO SCULPTORS FROM CRACOW, ZAGAJEWSKI AND TARABULA, BEARS AN INSCRIPTION BY THE JEWISH POET IZAAC KATSENELSON.

    AT THE FOOT OF THE MONUMENT ARE URNS WITH ASHES TAKEN FROM ALL THE PLACES IN LUBLIN PROVINCE WHERE JEWS DIED A MARTYR'S DEATH IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR.
