Background: Niger's Head of State, president Kountche, has ended a three-day official visit to Ghana, aimed at unifying the two nations.
The president and his entourage were the guests of Ghanaian leaders, most notably the Head of State and Chairman of the National Redemption Council, Colonel I.K Acheampong.
The roles of Ghana and Niger in the southern African struggle was the key topic and diplomatic talks in Accra.
President Kountche visited major industrial and agricultural projects in Ghana. Among these were the Akosombo Hydro project and the Dawhenya Irrigation Project. He also laid a wreath at the cenotaph of the unknown soldier.
The Ghanaian leader has been asked to visit Niger.
