  • Description

Two cars involved in a head-on collision at Suresnes, May 12, when Aly Khan, son of the late Aga Khan, was killed, were filmed the following day outside Puteaux police station, Paris.

Driving a gray Lancia, with former French model Bettina by his side and his chauffeur in the back seat, the 48-year-old Aly Khan sustained fatal injuries as his car was hit by a Belgian Simca Aronde travelling in the opposite direction.

Although both cars were badly damaged, the other three people - including company director Charles Bichaton, driver of the Simca - escaped with slight injuries. Aly Khan, his chest crushed by the impact of the collision, was taken to Foch de Suresnes Hospital where he died shortly afterwards. Bettina - Mlle Simone Bodin - received treatment at St Cloud Hospital.

An examining magistrate in Paris, May 13, opened a judicial inquiry into the circumstances of the car crash. Meanwhile, the Aga Khan, Aly Khan's first wife, and his brother , Prince Sadruddhin Khan, have arrived in the French capital. The Supreme Council of the Aga Khan in Pakistan has sent a telegram requesting that the body of Aly Khan be flown to Karachi for burial.
