Background: The 3-lap Isle of Man race for sidecars June 13 was won in record time by H. Fath, of West Germany, with A. Wohlgemuth as passenger on a B.M.W. They ran out of petrol just before the end but even so were able to coast over the finishing line to complete the 113.2 miles in 1 hour 20 minutes 45.8 seconds at an average speed of 84.1 m.p.h. The two also set up a new lap record of 26 min. 23.4 secs. - average speed: 85.82 mph.
In second place came Britain's P. Harris - also on a B.M.W. - and third another British rider - C. Freeman, on a Norton.
