    IT WAS SHOW TIME LAST WEEK AT THE AUSTRALIAN TASK FORCE HEADQUARTERS IN BARIA, 40 MILES (63 KMS), SOUTHEAST OF SAIGON. FOR TWO HOURS, THE VIETNAM WAS FORGOTTEN BY ABOUT 500 AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS AND A TROUP OF SOUTH KOREAN ENTERTAINERS.

    THE SHOW WAS ORGANISED BY THE SOUTH KOREAN ARMY. THE ENTERTAINERS WERE FORM SEOUL AND THEY COMPRISED OF DANCERS, SINGERS AND MUSICAL GROUPS. THEY ARE IN VIETNAM ON A YEAR'S ASSIGNMENT TO ENTERTAIN ALLIED FORCES.

    THE 18 MEMBERS OF THE TROUPE INCLUDE SEVEN GIRLS. ITS 11 YOUNG MEN HAVE BEEN DRAFTED INTO THE SOUTH KOREAN ARMY.

    THE AUSTRALIAN TASK FORCE HEADQUARTERS IS IN A HUGE RUBBER PLANTATION. TWO MILITARY TRUCKS WERE A STAGE FOR THE PERFORMERS.

    'HELLO DOLLY', THE SONG MADE FAMOUS BY LOUIS 'SATCHMO' ARMSTRONG, GOT THE SOLDIERS TAPPING THEIR FEET TO THE ACCOMPANIMENT OF TWANGING GUITARS.

    AT TEACH APPEARANCE OF A FEMALE PERFORMER, CALLS AND WHISTLES RANG OUT FROM THE CROWD AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THERE WERE CALLS FOR SILENCE.

    PERHAPS THE SOLDIER WHO ENJOYED THE EVENING MOST WAS SERGEANT T.H. SCOTT OF GOSFORD, NEW SOUTH WALES. HE DANCED THE TWIST EITH SINGER, MISS WHANG IN-SOON, AND HE WAS THE ENVY OF HIS COLLEAGUES.
