  • Description

VISNEWS May 29 filmed a four-man Japanese motorcycling team at Douglas, I.O.M., as they trained and readied their 125 c.c. machines for their carefully prepared onslaught on this year's Isle of Man T.T. Races.

At their hotel they have been undergoing a rigorous training schedule, including weight lifting to strengthen wrist and fore-arm muscles, two practice sessions each day...and British food. Although they like "Fish and Chips" the team have brought a lot of Japanese food with them.

Accompanying the four rider-mechanics are four officials and their American manager, Bill Hunt who says "We're declaring war on that circuit, and believe me somebody is in for an almighty shock."
Ever meticulous in their preparations, the Japanese have studiously photographed the course, filmed other competitors in action, made course-surface analysis and discussed tactics at great length.

It is the first time that a Japanese team has competed in the T.T. Races, previously dominated by Italian, German and British machines.

Their special machines, from the Honda factory in Tokyo, have vertical twin engines, with overhead camshaft, special carburettor system and six gears. They are capable of 90 mph in good conditions.
