    NEW ZEALAND HOPES TO SELL MORE WOOL, MUTTON, LAMB, BUTTER, CHEESE AND OTHER FARM PRODUCTS; MILK PROCESSING AND AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY AND INSECTICIDES. RUSSIA IN TURN IS ANXIOUS TO SELL MORE INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY, TRACTORS, CARS, TRUCKS, CHEMICALS, METALS AND OIL.

    THE TREATY WILL REMAIN IN FORCE INDEFINITELY AFTER THE FOUR-YEAR PERIOD, BUT CAN BE ENDED BY THREE MONTHS NOTICE ON EITHER SIDE. THIS IS THE FIRST FORMAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.

    BOTH COUNTRIES, IN WELCOMING THE TREATY, SPOKE OF LOOKING FORWARD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRADE TO THE MUTUAL BENEFIT OF EACH. NEW ZEALAND'S PRIME MINISTER, MR. KEITH HOLYOAKE, IN SIGNING THE AGREEMENT, SAID THE TREATY COINCIDED WITH ANOTHER IMPORTANT TREATY ... THE PARTIAL NUCLEAR TEST BAN TREATY IN MOSCOW. THE SOVIET DELEGATION WAS LED BY MR. G.S. BURGUCHEV.
