    Background: A trade agreement envisaging a turnover of 40 million pounds (US 95 million dollars) during 1973, was signed by Indian and Rumanian officials in New Delhi on Monday (4 December). The Trade Protocol was signed by Rumanian Deputy Prime Minister Ion Patan, and Indian Foreign Trade Minister L.N. Mishra.

    An important feature is an agreement for India to import fertilizers, to offset the set bock in food production because of the failure of the annual Monsoon rains.

    The goods Indian will export to Rumania are metal ores, some agricultural produce, cotton goods, some engineering products and pharmaceutical supplies. Rumania will export to India fertilizers, oil drilling and prospecting equipment, steel, machine parts, and other industrial commodities.
