    One of Britain's biggest and youngest families, the Tallons of Edinburgh, Scotland, said June 21 from Tilbury in the liner 'Strathnaver' for Australia as emigrants.

    The 13 Tallons are Mr. Jim and Mr. Mary, Tony 13, John 12, Pamela 11, Evelyn 10, Aiden 9, james 8, Noel 7, Rory 6, Josefa 3 1/2, Barry 2 1/2, Dermot 10 months. Mr. Tallon is 37 and his wife is 35.

    The passage cost the family only GBP20 - GBP10 each for husband and wife, and the children travelled free - under the Australian Government's assisted passage scheme.

    Mr. Tallon, a joiner, said he had a good jog in the U.K. but: "I am thinking of the children. They will have a better start in Australia".

    The ship is due at Sydney July 26. From there the Tallons expect to go by train to Brisbane and meet their Australian sponsors at nearby south port, where the family have a house waiting for them. Mr. Tallon said he hoped to have his own joinery business there in a few years.

    More than 700,000 British people have emigrated to Australia under the assisted passage scheme since the end of World War Two. In the 12 months ending June 1960 some 34,000 Britons will have sailed to Australia as assisted emigrants and in the same period 30,000 Briton, paying their passage will have left for Australia.
