Background: The Swedish freighter "Delos" which has been fitted out as an Australian trade mission ship, left Sydney this week for a two months tour of Far Eastern ports. The ship carries 100-thousand pounds' worth of exhibits which have been arranged to show the products of almost every phase of Australian primary and secondary industry. The mission was planned by the Australian Exporters Federation which hopes that it will lead to new markets for Australian goods in Asia. Exhibits range from giant earth-moving equipment to Australia wines and foodstuffs and the Australian-produced Holden sedan car is also on board. The "Delos" will call at sixteen ports in the Philippines, Japan, China, Hong Kong and the South Pacific. Twelve Australian industrial representatives are on board the ship to explain the displays and arrange for any trade dealings which may result. More than one-hundred Australian firms are represented in the displays on board the "Delos".
