  • Description

Visnews filmed Feb 4 in London's socialite and Royal Borough of Kensington, the latest protest parade by student against the new local public library which is being built in a 17th century style.

The students from the Royal College of Art in Kensington and other colleges are campaigning against what they deem to be ugly buildings rising on London's bomb-scarred areas. These Angry Young Men with strong views are not alone: leading architects and citizens are equally appalled.

Throwing a proverbial brick at the 17th century styled library, the students donned old English clothes led by their ring leader apparelled in a 17th century architect's garb with tricorn hat.

With placards, slogans and a band of wheezy dissonance to stir the citizens of the royal borough, they marched, hobbled, hooted from the Town Hall and old library to the site of the new GBP500,000 library, still an outline affair of scaffolding.
