    MR. HAROLD WILSON RETURNED TO LONDON EARLY TODAY (FRIDAY) FROM THE COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE IN NIGERIA ON RHODESIA. ON HIS WAY HOME FROM LAGOS, THE BRITISH PRIME MINISTER MADE A BRIEF STOP AT LUSAKA WHERE HE HAD TALKS WITH PRESIDENT KAUNDA OF ZAMBIA. HE SPOKE TO REPORTERS AT LONDON AIRPORT.

    MR. WILSON LEFT LAGOS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND ARRIVED AT LUSAKA IN TIME FOR BREAKFAST TALKS WITH DR. KAUNDA. AFTER A THREE-HOUR MEETING, HE SAID BRITAIN AND ZAMBIA WERE CLOSER TOGETHER THAN EVER BEFORE OVER RHODESIA.

    HE THEN FLEW HOME VIA NAIROBI, LEAVING BEHIND MR. BOTTOMLEY, WHOM IT WAS ANNOUNCED WOULD VISIT SALISBURY. BUT ARRIVING AT LONDON, MR. WILSON SAID THE VISIT HAD BEEN CALLED OFF AS THE SMITH REGIME HAD IMPOSED CONDITIONS WHICH WERE QUITE UNACCEPTABLE.
