  • Description

Yugoslavia's Foreign Minister, Milos Minic, arrived in Athens on Monday (16 December) for a three-day official visit to Greece.

Mr. Minic is the first foreign minister to have talks with the new Greek government, and also the first high-ranking Communist visitor since the recent legalisation of the banned communist party in Greece. His talks with members of the Greek Foreign Ministry are centred on the Cyprus situation, with other matters of mutual interest also under discussion. Mr. Minic visited Cyprus last August.

The Yugoslav Foreign Minister, who paid a courtesy call today (17 December) on Greek Premier Constantine Karamanlis, opened the talks at the Greek Foreign Ministry shortly after his arrival. The Greek delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Demotrius Bitsios, and the talks resumed today.

Accompanied by his wife and aides on his visit, Mr. Minic laid a wreath at Greece's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and inspected a guard of honour immediately upon his arrival in Athens.
