    THE NEW JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER, ME. EISAKU SATO, WENT WITH HIS CABINET TO THE IMPERIAL PALACE ON MONDAY NIGHT TO REPORT TO THE EMPEROR. THE NEW CABINET INCLUDES ALL THE MEMBERS OF THAT FORMED BY THE FORMER PRIME MINISTER, MR. IKEDA, WHO HAS RESIGNED BECAUSE OF ILL-HEALTH.

    AFTER RECEIVING THE ATTESTATION OF THE EMPEROR, THE CABINET WENT TO THE PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICIAL RESIDENCE IN TOKYO FOR ITS FIRST MEETING UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF MR. SATO. THE PRIME MINISTER ASKED MR. ICHIRO KONO, WHO HAD BEEN ONE OF HIS RIVALS FOR THE PREMIERSHIP, FOR HIS CONTINUED CO-OPERATION AND MR. KONO AGREED TO REMAIN STATE MINISTER.

    IN A STATEMENT TO THE JAPANESE PEOPLE EARLIER ON MONDAY NIGHT, MR. SATO PLEDGED THAT HIS CABINET WILL DO ITS UTMOST TO ATTAIN STABILISED GROWTH OF THE ECONOMY, TO CORRECT ECONOMIC IMBALANCES, AND TO COPE WITH RISING PRICES.
