Huge military cargo planes... such as the U.S. Air Force's CX-HLS... can be load ed faster with "drive through" loadings --- a technique pioneered by Lockheed Aircraft. Tanks and trucks can be my put on the big cargo plane with little trouble.
Lockheed built an unusual "elastic" cargo simulator -- a wooden shell whose sidewalls could be stretched to accept varying widths of cargo.
Two billion dollars will be spent to produce the new cargo simulators.
The new loading technique will get material on the plane faster than existing methods.
