Background: The 27th anniversary (24 October) of the United Nations was marked in Ghana by a flag-raising ceremony in front of Parliament House.
The United Nations flag was raised by Mr. Gordon Menzies, the organisation's resident development programme representative.
Ghana's Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Major-General Aferi, raised the national flag, and in a short address said the ceremony should reinforce the resolve that the United Nations should grow from strength to strength.
