    A large scale campaign has opened in Beirut aimed at boosting Iranian goods and tourism to the Lebanese people. A week of festivities marking the Iranian New Year signalled the start of the "Know Iran" campaign, which was supervised by Mr. Cyrus Farzaneh, Iran's tourist chief.

    There is a permanent exhibition at the Hotel Phoenicia in Beirut, where people can see Iranian art and products. There is also an exhibition of tourist posters and films, and even Iranian tea is available to encourage people to become interested in Iran.

    SYNOPSIS: The Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut is the focus of a special campaign to encourage Lebanese people to buy Iranian goods and visit Iran. The campaign was launched with a week of festivities.

    The Iranian Ambassador, Mr. Rukn-Al-Din Ashtiani, and Madamme Ashtiani, welcomed guests at a reception which also marked the Iranian New Year.

    A girl demonstrated the art of carpet weaving at an exhibition of Iranian goods. Visitors to the exhibition were even offered Iranian tea as they wandered around the stands crammed with tempting products. Other aspects of the publicity campaign include sporting events between teams from Iran and Lebanon.
