    In London Oct. 14 Field Marshal the Earl Alexander of Tunis was formally installed as Constable of the Tower of London - one of England's oldest offices dating back to within a few years of the Norman Conquest.

    The Constable holds his appointment by Royal Letters Pantent and has the privilege of audience and direct communication with the Sovereign. Yeoman warders formed the guard of honour as the keys and custody of the Tower were delivered to the new Constable - the 150th in the Queens name.
