Lieutenant Moussa Traore, the President of Mali, arrived in Cairo on Monday (May 4) for a seven day official visit. The crisis in the Middle-East and the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) are among the topics being discussed with President Nasser.
At the opening session of talks on Tuesday (May 5), President Traore outlined the principles of his country's foreign policy based upon non-alignment and resistance to imperialism. President Nasser gave a detailed explanation of developments in the Middle East crisis.
The two sides discussed means of strengthening the OAU in all fields and bilateral relations between Mali and the UAR.
Lieutenant Traore became head of State of Mali after a military coup in November 1968.
