Background: British Foreign Secretary Michael Stewart arrived at Tokyo Haneda International Airport by BOAC plane at 3:55 p.m. this afternoon to attend the fourth meeting of the Japan-British regular ministerial consultation. Foreign Secretary Stewart will leave Tokyo for Seoul, Korea on Sunday morning but will return here Monday to attend the meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Eisusaburo Shlina on Tuesday. Stewart is scheduled to leave Tokyo for home on Wednesday after confering with Prime Minister Eisaku Sato earlier the same day. The third meeting of the Ministerial consultation was held in London in January. Since then the international situation has undergo a big change, with the dispatch of a large number of United States troops to South Vietnam, the outbreak of hostilities between India and Pakistan, attempt coup d'etat in Indonesia and other developments in Asia. Stewart and Shiina are expected to exchange information and views regarding the rapidly changing Asian situation.
