    A special series of Press demonstrations is being given by the Austin Motor Company of Britain to show the world for the first time their new Austin 'Gypsy' - a cross-country vehicle, with four-wheel drive - the first ever to be fitted with independent rubber suspension on all four wheels. There is a choice of power units, either petrol or diesel, the capacity in each case being 2.2 litres. The price in Britain, with petrol engine GBP650, with diesel engine GBP755 - British purchase tax is not analyzable. The Gypsy is a general purpose vehicle with provision for full torque power-take-off, driving to the side of the vehicle by Vee pulley or to the rear by a supplementary prop shaft. This is suitable for driving supplementary equipment such as a winching gear. A capstan can also be fitted to the front of the vehicle. The Gypsy has 23 1/2 cubic feet for cargo space or occasional seating for six on the built-in tool boxes either side of the cargo compartment. The bench type front sent provides ample seating accommodation for three passengers.
