GENERAL ASSEMBLY.SHE WAS MET AT ABIDJAN AIRPORT BY THE CHARGE D'AFFAIRS AT THE LIBERIAN EMBASSY, MR. DAVIS.

    MISS BROOKS, ONE OF LIBERIA'S MOST POPULAR AND EXPERIENCED DIPLOMATS HAS BEEN AN ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE IN LIBERIA SINCE 1956. SHE HAS SERVED IN A NUMBER OF UNITED NATIONS BODIES. SHE'S BEEN REPRESENTATIVE OF HER COUNTRY AT THE U.N. FOR 12 YEARS, AND HER UNHIBITED SPEECHES IN THE TRUSTEESHIP COMMITTEE AND AT OTHER INTERNATIONAL GATHERINGS HAVE MADE HER FAMOUS IN WORLD DIPLOMATIC CIRCLES.

    A DAUGHTER OF A LIBERIAN BAPTIST PREACHER, SHE IS A LAWYER BY PROFESSION AND WAS PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF WOMEN'S LAWYERS UNTIL LAST YEAR. SHE'S BEEN AWARDED DECORATIONS BY LIBERIA, THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, CAMEROUN, YUGOSLAVIA, WEST GERMANY AND BURUNDI.
