AND TO CONSOLE FRENCH ART LOVERS WHILE THIS MOST TREASURED OF WORKS OF ART IN ON LOAN TO AMERICA, THE MUSEUM AUTHORITIES HAVE PUT A PAINTING OF A WOMAN AND TWO CHILDREN TO COVER THE WALL SPACE OCCUPIED BY THE DA VINCI PAINTING. CALLED "LA BELLE JARDINIERE," IT IS ALSO BY AN ITALIAN ARTIST, RAPHAEL ZANZIO (1483-1520) WHO BELONGED TO THE ROME SCHOOL OF PAINTERS.

    AND WHILE THE ZANZIO PAINTING CAME UNDER THE EYE OF THE PATRONS OF THE LOUVRE, THE MONA LISA, SAID TO BE INSURED FOR SOME GBP30 MILLION, WAS BEING CONVEYED TODAY (THURSDAY) WITH GREAT SECRECY TO LE HAVRE WHERE IT WILL BE PLACED ABOARD THE LINER, FRANCE, AND LOCKED AND SEALED IN A STATEROOM. SIX ATTENDANTS FROM THE LOUVRE WILL TAKE IT IN TURN TO STAND ON GUARD OUTSIDE WHEN THE LINER LEAVES FOR NEW YORK TOMORROW (FRIDAY).

    IT WAS M. MALRAUX, AUTHOR AND MINISTER OF CULTURE, WHO PROMISED MRS. JACQUELINE KENNEDY, WIFE OF THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT, TO ALLOW THE PAINTING TO BE EXHIBITED IN WASHINGTON. HIS PROMISE BROUGHT STRONG PROTESTS FROM LEADING FRENCH ARTISTS AND MUSEUM DIRECTORS WHO CLAIM THE PAINTING IS PARTICULARLY VULNERABLE TO CHANGES OF TEMPERATURE AND VIBRATION.
