    PRESIDENT LEOPOLD SEDAR SENGHOR OF SENEGAL FLEW INTO NAIROBI YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) ON A BRIEF OFFICIAL VISIT TO KENYA. AT AN AIRPORT NEWS CONFERENCE, HE SAID AFRICAN NATIONS MUST ACHIEVE SOLIDARITY AMONG THEMSELVES AND WITH FORMER COLONIAL POWERS. HE URGED AFRICANS TO BE TRUE TO THEIR HERITAGE WHILE CENTERING THEIR POLITICAL FAITH IN THE ORGANISATION OF AFRICAN UNITY (OAU).

    THE PRESIDENT OF KENYA, JOMO KANYATTA, WAS AT THE AIRPORT TO MEET THE SENEGALESE PRESIDENT WHO WAS ACCOMPANIED BY HIS WIFE AND A NUMBER OF MINISTERS. PRESIDENT SENGHOR AND HIS PARTY WERE RETURNING FROM THE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS IN MALAGASY.

    THEY WILL STAY IN KENYA FOR A DAY AND WILL VISIT THE NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK, THE UNIVERSITY AND PARLIAMENT, AND CALL ON THE MAYOR OF NAIROBI.

    AT THHEE NEWS CONFERENCE, PRESIDENT SENGHOR SAID: "THERE MUST BE AN HISTORICAL SOLIDARITY BETWEEN AFRICAN NATIONS AND A VERTICAL SOLIDARITY WITH FORMER COLONIAL POWERS."
