Background: Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, on his first visit to Indonesia, has promised that country increased economic aid. Speaking at a banquet in Djakarta last night (Friday), the visiting Premier called for increased cooperation between the two countries and invited Indonesian President Suharto to visit Canada.
Canadian sources said the two leaders had reached agreement on several issues concerning civil aviation, forestry, road repair and the setting up of a paper mill in Indonesia. Another matter they agreed on was President Suharto's visit to Canada.....he said he'll make the trip at the earliest convenient time.
The Canadian leader arrived in Djakarta on Thursday and was greeted by President Suharto. Mr. Trudeau made the stop over on his way home from the Commonwealth Prime Minister's conference in Singapore.
