    Round-the-clock work is currently underway at Nairobi Airport to complete extensions needed to accommodate that giant jetliner, the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet. Among the airlines planning to fly 747s to Nairobi within the next year are BOAC and Lufthansa.

    The GBP200,000 sterling extensions to the airport include a 160,000 square foot 747 apron alongside the arrivals and departures lounge, and a 40,000 square foot parking area by the maintenance hangars. Fuel and servicing points are also being provided.
