Background: A Coup d'Etat took place in the small Republic of San Marino.

This Coup was caused by the Regents who are members of the Social Communist Party.

This Party is trying to keep the regular elections from taking place.

The Social Communist Party had been elected with a majority at the last elections.

They now find themselves in a minority because their own member Attilio Giannini and 5 members of the Socialist Independent Party passed over to the Christian Democratic side. The Communist Party foreseeing a defeat in the imminent elections of the two Regents, who are elected by the Counsellors, caused the fall of the present Government by keeping the Christian Democratic Counsellors from entering into the Government Palace. The small Republic is therefore momentarily without a Government.
