  • Description

Bowling's biggest spectacular, the fifty-eight annual American Bowling Congress Championships, is under way in Detroit. "A.B.C. Queen" Gloria Kirby and her retinue of bowling belles opened the 79-day competition which features more than 32,000 bowlers battling for almost half-a-million dollars in prize money.

The bowlers take their places, and forty bowlers pitch down the alleys at four-hundred pins, and the 1961 ABC Championships are under way.

During bowling's longest tournament, contestants will knock down more than thirty-million pins with more than two-and-a-half million balls as they bowl for singles, doubles, team and all events crowns, titles, and prize money.
