    Strict security measures were imposed when German arms magnate, Alfred Krupp, arrived in Australia to look around for possible sites for development. Angry crowds congregated around the offices of the airport where Krupp went through the formalities of arrival in private. They shouted such slogans as 'Keep our War Criminal Krupp', and 'Gas Oven Krupp'. Many carried banners bearing similar slogans. Krupp was interviewed by the Press but great pqins were taken to see that he was kept well away from the public, and he made fast exit by Mercedes Benz, completely unseen by the demonstrators.
