  • Description

While Malaysia presents her case against Indonesia in the Security Council, the task of finding a party of Indonesian commandos, who parachuted into Southern Malaya continues with British troops assisting the Malaysian forces.

Gurkhas of the British Army shot and killed three more Indonesians near Labis on Wednesday bring the total Indonesian casualties in the Labis area to eight killed and at least five wounded, according to a Defence Ministry announcement. The number captured is being kept secret by Malaysia for security reasons.

About 30 Indonesians were reported to have parachuted into Labis -- midway between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, on September 2nd. Indonesia has denied this.

New Zealand troops, also assisting Malaysia's operation against infiltrators, are still hunting for about four Indonesians in another group reported to have come ashore in mid-August in an area some 65 mile (105 kilometres) south-west of Labis.

In this area Malaysian troops have already killed 14 Indonesians and more than 40 are understood to have been captured. Malaysian casualties are three soldiers killed and three wounded.
