  • Description

As the Soviet Union officially marks its 50th anniversary, crowds of Czechs flock to see a display marking the occasion in Prague.

The exhibition, held in the Congress Hall of the Park of Culture and Relaxation in the capital emphasises modern technology, machinery, and the development of Soviet culture with the use of television and multi???een film displays.

SYNOPSIS: The Congress Hall of Prague's Park of Culture and Revolution is the venue for a giant display marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the USSR. Opened in November, the display includes heavy machinery, cultural and science exhibits heralding the advancement of the Soviet Union since its founding on December 30, 1922. These are heightened by the use of multi-screen film displays and industrial television. The organisers wanted modern methods to highlight all parts of the special display.

Crowds of visitors are passing exhibits of chemistry equipment and Soviet-made special instruments scattered throughout the giant hall. Among the most popular is this display of a scale model of the modern atomic icebreaker, the Lenin, named after the father of modern communism.

Another favourite is the display of a missile and launch pad in miniature, a replica of a site at Baykonur designed to show the scientific strides made by the U.S.S.R., in its first half-century.

Stressing the modern theme of the display is this scale model of one of the country's atomic power generating stations.
