  • Description

The widening ban on sporting contact with Britain being imposed by African nations could threaten Scotland's first round match with Zaire in the World Soccer Cup next month. The two sides are due to meet in Dortmund on June 14. There has been no official word from Zaire but the Government is believed to be considering following other African nations who've ended sporting contacts with Britain on all levels.

Meantime, Scotland's World Cup squad has been training hard at Largs for the home international series which starts Saturday (May 11) and warm up matches against Belgium and Norway.

Scotland's manager Willie Ormond is confident of success.

Mr. Ormond was then asked about the possible ban on his team by Zaire.
