  • Description

Gordon Pirie, world record holder for 3,000 metres, has been chosen by England's Empire Game selectors to compete in the Golden Mile event.

But he has not been chosen by them to run the three miles at Cardiff next month.

Paradoxically, Darek Ibbotson, the world's fastest miler, has been left out of the Golden Mile, but the selectors have picked him to compete in the Empire three miles.

Pirie, because of the selector's decision in his case, comments to our reporter why he refuses to run in the three miles at the Kinmaird Trophy meeting at Chiswiok tommorrow, June 28.
