    PRESIDENT NASSER OF EGYPT TOLD SOME 30,000 WORKERS AT KAFR EL DAWAR, NEAR ALEXANDRIA, LAST NIGHT (1 MAY) THAT THE WILL OF THE EGYPTIAN PEOPLE WOULD PROVE STRONGER THAN THE MILITARY MIGHT THAT ISRAEL PLANNED PARADE IN JERUSALEM TODAY (THURSDAY). HE WAS COMMENTING ON THE PROJECTED PARADE OF ISRAEL'S MILITARY STRENGTH THROUGH TERRITORY CAPTURED FROM THE ARABS IN LAST JUNE'S MIDDLE EAST WAR, WHICH IN FACT DID TAKE PLACE TODAY (THURSDAY) IN THE FACE OF A UNITED NATIONS PROTEST.

    THE PRESIDENT TOLD THE MAY DAY RALLY: 'THE ROAR OF THE EGYPTIAN PEOPLE WILL PROVE STRONGER THAN THE ROAR OF 300 ISRAELI TANKS WHICH ARE TO RUMBLE IN THE STREETS OF ARAB JERUSALEM, AND THE ZOOMING OF 300 PLANES IN ITS SKY.'
    SPEAKING BEFORE A VERY RECEPTIVE AUDIENCE, PRESIDENT NASSER ALSO REFERRED TO TODAY'S NATIONWIDE PLEBISCITE TO BACK THE PRESIDENT'S NEW PROGRAMME OF POLITICAL REFORM. THE PRESIDENT HIMSELF CAST HIS VOTE LAST NIGHT, TELLING THE PEOPLE THAT THE PLEBISCITE MARKED A LANDMARK IN EGYPT'S HISTORY. 'IT WILL MEAN THE TOTAL TRANSFER OF AUTHORITY TO THE PEOPLE,' HE DECLARED. THE VOTE WILL ENDORSE A PROGRAMME DESIGNED TO GIVE THE PEOPLE GREATER PERSONAL FREEDOM AND A LARGER VOICE IN NATIONAL LIFE.
